The boot historically is a manly footwear, created to meet the need of knights about support and protection without using laces for their shoes. From the ‘XIX century and much more in the following time it became a sort of icon for women outfit …
The boot has a simple and straightforward shape, but is composed of several elements that must be chosen with care. Just taking care of details the boots will last a long time.
A good pair of boots should have the following features:
- warmth;
- resistance;
- comfort;
WARM BOOTS
Boots are made to keep warm and dry foot, ankle and leg even with bad weather condition, very frequent during fall and winter.
Usually boots are made in leather, the most common material in footwear industries for its resistance, breathability.. but it is not the hottest material in the world.
To guarantee a good warmth is enough to apply a lining inside the boots, comfortable and able to keep the temperature: is not proper of leather. The lining can be in Vellufelt, leatherette, animal origin material with fur coat or synthetic filling. Vellufelt is extremely warm and soft to the touch and with fur coat is suitable for the coolest days of winter. Linings in leatherette and fabric are the best options for boots with thin shafts… that are worn in the middle-season.
RESISTANT BOOTS
A long-lasting pair of boot is reinforced in the points more stressed during the walk (neck of the foot, rear seam, zipper). The main risk otherwise is a boot easy to disfigure, a leather marked before time. Boots price is higher than other kinds of shoes so it is important to buy a product that is made to last.
For example, these are some kind of reinforcement materials:
- tape for the back sewings of the boots avoids ruining the leather between the upper and the heel during the walks;
- Self-adhesive tape with selvedges for boots designed for the parts where the leather is folded and where the ribbon doesn't have to be noticed.
In the lower-part, a boot is not different from any other kind of shoe. In order to be resistant, we suggest to use polyester continuous filament as SERAFIL 30 or 40, particularly resistant to the abrasions and bends, and extremely nice to see, thanks to the huge colour palette available.
COMFORTABLE BOOTS
Comfort is not an option: to be worn every day a boot can’t be only warm and resistant! Must be comfortable.
Easy to put on and remove, comfortable to take a walk with and not so heavy to be worn all day long. These features are respected only if the designers consider the freedom of movement.
Hard or heavy boots would not to be used with the same pleasure of soft ones… even if they look great!.
The materials used in the production of a boot are essential to make them comfortable: soft leather, conveniently treated, a comfortable sole and an elastic shaft… in order to ease the movement of the legs and the blood circulation.
Polyester elastic 7004 is commonly chosen as an insert in the shaft to make the boot more flexible.
When you choose a pair of boots look at how they are made: the selection of all the materials will suggest you which one is the best for you taste and it will accompany you for several cold seasons.
