What are Sneakers?

Sneakers are definitely among the most popular and popular shoes of our times. The word "sneaker" identifies sports shoes, more commonly known as sneakers, which since the 70s onwards have experienced a growth in sales and use unparalleled. Today they are used not only for sports, but also for the office, leisure time and sometimes on more formal occasions.
In fact, the sneakers over the years have managed to free themselves from their role as a sports and cheap shoe, becoming over time a piece of clothing suitable for even the most serious out-fit. Today there is a real "casual sneaker" product segment developed for lifestyle apparel and not for sports practice, then lent to everyday life.

Are sneakers going to go out of fashion trends?

Created after the WW2 (remember that until the first half of the '900 for any sport play activity was used traditional shoes specially modified) these shoes have achieved unparalleled popularity thanks to brands such as Nike, Adidas and Rebook, which were able to combine the growing demand for technical footwear for changes in fashion, the new concept of leisure time and the changed economic capacity of emerging classes. From the 70s onwards we can talk about a real new cultural trend.
In the 90s the consecration of the sneakers took place with the first appearances on the runways of the "sneakers" thanks to Miuccia Prada.
Today I am an element present in all sectors and on all occasions: so why does Vanessa Friedman, authoritative New York Times voice, say that sneakers are going out of fashion?

The sneakers: from essential shoes, suitable with any outfit... to the excess: the sunset boulevard?

Vanessa Friedman's thesis is the following: at the beginning these shoes were suitable for every occasion, while nowadays have come to a real extremism, with a push towards excess and extravagance.
A lot of sneakers today have exaggerated dimensions and a less sober style compared to their "parents" (such as the Nike Cortez, the real minimal pieces of jewelry, still appreciated today at a distance of more than 45 years). These are shoes that are not at all sporting, but only flashy.

The phenomenon of sneakers, grown to excess (with sales increasing steadily), can only have a limit and a physiological roof, which is trying to overcome reinventing a type of shoe in a very clumsy.

Each fashion suffers a decline at the end of a period of consolidation of the trend and it is easy to get to excesses that have little to do with the brilliance of the initial stages.

A first sign of the trend reversal and of the change of this trend can be felt looking at the catwalks: the creative director of Balenciaga, for example, has returned to designing classic and minimal décolletolls for fashion shows, abandoning at least in part the ultra modern forms of sneaker seen in the past seasons.

Our idea: sneakers will never go out of fashion ... but they will come back more sober!

We believe that old fashioned sneakers will never go there. They are simply too comfortable and versatile to go out of fashion. At the same time we are convinced that the observation of Vanessa Friedman is more than shareable. In recent years there has been a certain distortion of the concept of sneaker, which proved to be a forcing: sports shoes ... unsuitable to play sports but definitely more comfortable on the catwalk. To this day sneakers (trainers, sneakers, we can call them as we prefer) are the most sold shoes type and it is likely that there will be a decline in time dictated by new trends and consumption habits, but we are sure that they will not go out of fashion . Many brands are starting to fish from the past with evergreen (an example above all: All Star by Converse and Stan Smith of Adidas) without any kind of modification or with slight revisions (leather upper, shoes with studs or rhinestones, new colors).

How to keep fashion sneakers

For your shoes to always remain the last cry we give you two tips, trivial .... but hit the spot!
The first is to take care of your sneakers. In the 90s, the fashion of "ruined shoes" began: dirty, worn, worn-out shoes ... This fashion does not convince us: it will be professional deformation, but we like shoes that are shiny, clean and well-groomed. A pair of treated and "like new" Converse White All Stars is unbeatable and the comparison with "experienced" sneakers does not hold up for us. If you also agree here, take a look at our Collonil sneaker care products: revitalizing for white skin, cleansing, and fragrance specifically developed for your Sneakers.
The second tip is: if you think your shoes are anonymous, but you still like their shape, try to customize them! Coloring your leather shoes, or adding small touches that make them more personal (such as putting studs on Converse All Starr, or adding small Glitter on the Adidas Superstar) is not at all difficult, but will change the look of your shoes making them unique. Long live sneakers (nice ones though !!).
